With the main card just about complete, WEC 47's preliminary card is starting to take shape.
World Extreme Cagefighting officials announced a bantamweight matchup between Chad George (11-4 MMA, 1-0 WEC) and rising contender Scott Jorgensen (8-3 MMA, 4-2 WEC) is now part of the March 6 event.
WEC 47 takes place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The main card, including a headliner of WEC 47 bantamweight champ Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz, airs on Versus.
George, a 27-year-old veteran of the California fight circuit, made his WEC debut in December and topped John Hosman via unanimous decision at WEC 45.
George, a graphic artist who wrestled in junior college at Sierra College, now has six consecutive wins and seven victories in his past eight fights.
He now takes on fast-rising Jorgensen, who's won four of his past five fights (all in the WEC), including a WEC 45 unanimous-decision win over former top 135-pound contender Takeya Mizugaki. That fight earned Jorgensen a $10,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus.
The Ring of Fire veteran and one-time EliteXC fighter has moved deep into title contention with past WEC victories over the likes of Kenji Osawa, Frank Gomez and Noah Thomas.
